Moving from one place to another is never easy. For most of us the thought of moving makes us flinch plus not having the right tools make it only harder.
Everything is rush, rush, when it comes to moving and it can be tempting to take a few short cuts to make things quicker – like grabbing the boxes from the local supermarket and using your saved up newspapers. Packing and moving supplies have been designed specifically for the task of moving – so it’s a good idea to use them!
1. Take the time to buy moving boxes that are specifically designed for moving household items. These are made a lot tougher than normal boxes and they come in just the right sizes to accommodate a variety of your possessions.
2. There are special packing boxes available for clothing called wardrobe boxes. They come with a hanger rail that fits securely into holes in the box.
3. A simple square cardboard moving box might look like just an ordinary box but it isn’t. Its corners have been reinforced, and there is corrugated material in the box that helps the boxes to remain intact under weight from above.
4. You’ll need other moving supplies too, like strong packing tape, packing paper and some good bubble wrap for fragile items. Wrapped in strong paper, placed in sturdy storage boxes and sealed up with the right tape, your possessions have the best chance of arriving intact.
Just remember that a moving box that’s too small also forces you to use more of them than necessary and one that’s a little larger, even when it’s a little heavier, means fewer trips.
