Broker Pleads Guilty For More Than $10M Fraud

In connection with “Operation Whose House,” Yvette Scott Patterson has pled guilty to federal charges.   Sentencing is scheduled for October 13, 2009 at 1:15 p.m. before U.S. District Judge William Dimitrouleas at the Fort Lauderdale Federal Courthouse.

One count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft and one count of aggravated identity theft in connection with a mortgage fraud scheme she operated in Broward County, Florida—Patterson pled guilty to all these.  She faces a maximum of up to 5 years in jail on the conspiracy count and a consecutive term of 2 years in prison on the aggravated identity theft count.

Five defendants were charged in an eight-count Indictment on July 21, 2008, for their participation in a mortgage fraud scheme that resulted in the issuance of more than $830,000 in mortgage loan.

From Miami, Sixto Figueroa, 57, and his wife Susy Figueroa, 44, fraudulently sold residential lots in Port LaBelle, Florida. The Figueroas recruited individuals to pose as buyers of the properties to execute their scheme. Co-conspirators Rolando Herrera, 63, and Manuel Garcia, 40, both of Miami, Florda, were among the straw buyers recruited and paid by the Figueroas.

Beware of mortgage frauds especially from people who act holier-than-thou.  They turn out to be not so holy after all, but really good racket agents.

A Martin County, Florida Jury convicted Pastor Rodney McGill and his wife Shalonda McGill, of mortgage fraud.  They lured their victims through what they called a real estate investment “opportunity” which was actually a mortgage fraud scheme that was intended to free the McGills of their mortgages.  But now, they are not free at all, and are even facing up to 170 years in prison.
